For the first time, all of the dots are connected, and for the first time you will no doubt see and know the Big picture of what Jesus Christ teachings are all about. Highly recommend!

The Real Jesus Christ?

This book is excellent for its ability to take a very complex subject and simplify it. This books examines the evidence for who Jesus really was and what he really taught. I have read the Christian Bible myself eleven times along with the Jewish translation of the Old Testament and Catholic Bible. I have also studied Orthodox Christian Doctrine along with reading the new scriptures found in Nag Hammadi. Author Steve Sadleir has been able to simplify this topic and make it possible for anyone to pick up this book and understand the questions that are raised in it. The central problem is that Jesus Christ was born a Jew in Nazareth. His original disciples that became his apostles had different gospels that were not canonized by the Catholic Church. Many of these gospels were found in Nag Hammadi Egypt in modern times. The manuscripts of the gospels of Thomas, Mary, and Phillip are much older than the oldest existing manuscripts of the biblical gospels. These gospels tell a different story than the ones in the Bible, they ask the follower to look with in for heaven and that hell is created from your own thoughts, these are not physical places they are with in the mind. The human spirit is clothed with a physical body but it is not this body you are a spirit. This book tries to show the reader through the evidence that the original Jesus Christ was enlightened and his ministry was to enlighten his followers in the here and now. He was a man, not God incarnated. This myth was built up over the 300 years after his death when his words and life were mixed together with the pagan world's religions.

The author attempts to show how this message was stolen by Saul of Tarsus who went on to become the self proclaimed apostle Paul after spending time persecuting and killing the followers of Jesus. The bible itself speaks about the conflict between Paul and the original followers of Jesus, primarily James and Peter. Paul's epistles were never accepted by the original followers of Jesus, and to this day their exist Christians in the Middle East and India who do not accept Paul as an apostle. Paul was never a student of Jesus directly, nor did he learn under any of his apostles. His teachings were a mythology that he believed was inspired directly by Christ. Was it? It was more similar to the Greek and Roman God-Man Cults than anything Jewish or said by Jesus himself even in the Bible.

The next Jesus changing event was the council of Nicaea held by the Emperor Constantine in 325 A.D. The original followers of Jesus from the Middle East and the Gnostic Christians were not invited. The debate about whether Jesus was God or not ended abruptly when the bishop that believed Jesus was human was punched in the face. Constantine used the few Bishops gathered for this council to create the theology he needed to unite the empire. The word "Catholic" comes from the Greek "Kathlikos" which means universal. Constantine was able to merge his religion of Sol Invictus and the Mithran cult together with Christianity to make one church for all.

The author goes into detail explaining the historical facts of how distortions started, by who, and why. He does a great job bringing together information that I have learned from several books into one place and streamlining them into manageable information that can be understood. What the author presents are facts, many of which I have learned from other sources. It is a hard book for most Christians to read because things that they take on 100% faith are challenged and even shown to be untrue. The very core of the Church's theology of redemption is said to be incorrect. If you can read this book with an open mind and do your own research to make sure it is correct it can be very educational. The truth will set you free.

Have we been brain washed ?

The whole topic is very interesting given the fact, that to the best of my knowledge no verified written documents have ever been uncovered that were directly written by Jesus Christ himself. I found it very difficult to read this book given the years of conditioning my mind has been subject to having been raised in a society or culture very heavily influenced by individual interpretation of events and subject matter not in direct experience, especially a topic so emotionally charged and dynamic as this one. Unlike other reviews of this book I found it interesting that Mr. Sadleir was accused of drawing controversial conclusions, it seemed to me that the evidence could be considered controversial, in that it provides documented history to question our own conclusions or more aptly put conclusions drawn by others and adopted . I really appreciate the way this book presents history, that is substantiated by the best research available to date and allows you the reader to draw your own conclusions as to the message intended by Christ himself. On a side note, I am constantly amazed at how a subject apparently intended to bring unity and wholesomeness to our state of being has historically led to so much division, violence and anxiety. Given this observation I feel it necessary to see for myself the available facts and draw my own conclusions, hopefully free of self serving ideals.
