Best book I have read on the subject so far

I have been learning CFD as a hobby and found most books just jump into the math and can be tough going. This one gives a good overview and gave me an intuitive understanding of the area. It is packed full of good information (over 900 pages!) and although 10 years old it is still relevant. It was probably a lot more expensive when it was first released but now at less that $100 it is a bargain.

My only gripe was I would like to see more on motorbikes. The section on motorbikes is good but you are expected to derive streamlining information from other sections to apply to motorbikes. This is not a big ask but it would be more perfect for me as that is what I bought the book for.

I also like it as it in metric but that might put others off.

Very good purchase! The best book for this subject. SAE books is the reference for all technologies automotive. Aerodynamics of Road Vehicles is great book and has all information about Fluid Mechanics to Vehicle Engineering. Is a good acquisition for new students or experts.

Viewing the transformation of the Plaza de Armas from the new perspective of heritage studies, this book investigates how late colonial Cuban society narrated Havana's founding to valorize Spanish imperial power and used the monuments to underpin a local sense of place and cultural authenticity, civic achievement, and social order.

Paul Niell analyzes how Cubans produced heritage at the site of the symbolic ceiba tree by endowing the collective urban space of the plaza with a cultural authority that used the past to validate various place identities in the present. Niell's close examination of the extant forms of the 1754 and 1828 civic monuments, which include academic history paintings, neoclassical architecture, and idealized sculpture in tandem with period documents and printed texts, reveals a "dissonance of heritage"—in other words, a lack of agreement as to the works' significance and use. He considers the implications of this dissonance with respect to a wide array of interests in late colonial Havana, showing how heritage as a dominant cultural discourse was used to manage and even disinherit certain sectors of the colonial population.

Awesome book for embracing your true self!

I received this book when attending one of Cyndie's live events, although I would have bought it regardless. The event was amazing, but even so I was still blown away by the book. It goes really deep and brilliantly explains the shift that we are currently experiencing, as well as the masculine and feminine aspects within us all. And the archetype system is great! I found the book really helpful in being able to balance my own masculine and feminine energies, and connecting with my true self! Would highly recommend it!

This book delivers precisely what the title promises. I try to read this book every 5 years, or less, to see what I missed the last time I read it. This is a book that should be mandatory both in high school, and college. The post WW I generation of the German speakign world produced some very good thinkers, including many of those who shaped Quantum Mechanics, though history has allowed Adolf and crew to overshadow them. I had the priviledge of sitting in on Rudolf Arnheim's lectures, in college. Visual Thinking: Thirty-Fifth Anniversary Printing His prose was extremely clear, and like a lake with no turbulence, one could see to the point, or bottom of the lake, metaphorically, with great clarity. This book should never be updated, it is so valuable as is. It is an adventure in thinking, as surely as the Anabasis (The Persian Expedition) was an adventure. In scope, for its subject, I could compare this book to Lifetide, for Biology. It is not merely dry parts, it is the 5 blind men of Hindustan suddenly getting their sight, and seeing the elephant for the first time. The Seven Mysteries of Life is another book that must have taken 20 years of gathering, to write. If the Next Whole Earth Catalogs were still around, this book would be cited, in its subject area, as one of the top 3, if not the best. This book, along with Art of Readable Writing, are something that everyone who communicates with language would find useful. I send books to colleges in the third world, out of my own pocket. Since Surface Mail ended, this is now expensive, even in flat rate boxes, so I only send very high value books. This is a book I send. If more Germans had thought this way, in the '30's, Hitler and crew would not have gained power. The checklists for solving problems, at p. 118 and 148 in my edition, is remarkably useful. NLP practicioners don't use all these questions. This book is about clear perception, doing for thinking and problem-solving what Tracking and the Art of Seeing: How to Read Animal Tracks and Sign does for tracking. If I had to teach high school with only 10 books, this would be one of the 10.

How High Will You Climb? by John Maxwell
Be forewarned, this book is simply an abridgment of an earlier Maxwell book, The Winning Attitude.

It's smaller, almost novella in size, but still contains everything you'd expect from a John Maxwell book.

There are four parts: The Consideration of Your Attitude, The Construction of Your Attitude, The Crashing of Your Attitude, and The Changing of Your Attitude. (See what he did there with the letter C?)

Filled with clever and humorous anecdotes, Maxwell has mastered the motivational/inspirational writing sphere.

Based on flying in a small airplane, you'll pull images into your own attitude for flying high instead of crash and burning. You'll see the elements from outside and from within that can contribute to a poor attitude and what a positive attitude can help you accomplish.

If you like Maxwell stuff and haven't read The Winning Attitude, you'll like this read. It's the perfect book to give a friend who needs an attitude adjustment.

Fails to Captivate

Just as a farmer spends time and energy cultivating his fields a man needs to spend time cultivating his attitude. Pruning out the bad attitudes while meanwhile nourishing the good attitudes. John C. Maxwell's How High Will You Climb?, talks about steering the internal mental plane of attitude. No matter the turbulence we encounter, with God as our co-pilot, John reminds us, we are not alone on this adventure.

How High Will You Climb? features short, easy to digest chapters as well as Biblical and personal application. John does not shy away from sharing solid Biblical truth. But no matter how many times I tried to sit down and read this book, I couldn't manage to break into it. The hook isn't there. That is not to say that I didn't glean some nuggets in my readings:

"Remember, the difficulty really becomes a problem when we internalize unfortunate circumstances. Another thing to remember when the weather gets rough is that what really matters is what happens in us, not to us! When the external circumstances lead to wrong internal reactions, we really have problems." p60

In the end, I did not find How High Will You Climb? to be captivating. This is not a book I would recommend to friends or family.

Solid guidance to a better attitude

“Attitude is everything” or so they say. John C. Maxwell probably agrees. His book, How High Will You Climb, is subtitled “Determine Your Success by Cultivating the Right Attitude.” In aviation, your attitude determines your altitude. The attitude of the aircraft can be nose-up or nose-down and where the nose is pointed, the plane will follow. Correspondingly, if your personal attitude is nose-down, you’re probably not going to go anywhere but down.

How High Will You Climb is all about “looking up” for guidance and direction. What is attitude and why is it important? How was your present attitude formed? What are obstacles to a positive attitude, both within and without? How can I change my attitude? These are all questions answered in Maxwell’s book. He uses Biblical principles along with illustrative stories to guide the reader to the start of a journey towards having a better attitude. There are self-evaluation questions included in each chapter, and a study guide at the end of the book.

If you are serious about getting rid of your bad attitude or know someone who just needs to have some direction in how to begin changing theirs, this book is a good one. It isn’t too long and there are plenty of practical steps to begin that journey.

Excellent Book - Passed FPGEE 21 years after graduation

I have passed the FPGEE exam (September 2015). I have never written a big review like this. The main purpose of this review is to share my honest opinion about the book, The APhA Complete Review for the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination and explain the exam pattern to new test takers. I did my Pharmacy course from 1990 - 1994. After a long journey through rough roads, I decided to become a pharmacist in USA to serve as a bridge between physicians and patients (Not to be served but to serve :). If you have lost so many years after your Pharmacy course - Don't give up. I have carefully prepared for FPGEE by using APHA. Here I am briefing about the book and the exam pattern in addition to how to prepare and score well in this exam.
The best part of this book:
1. This book is designed in such a way graduates from foreign nations can understand and follow. This book is organized as follows.
First section – Basic Biomedical Sciences – 1-7 Chapters – You may expect 40 questions;
Second section – Pharmaceutical Sciences – 8 – 16 – You may expect 75 questions;
Third section – Chapters 17- 24 – Social, Behavioral and Administrative Pharmacy Sciences – You may expect 55 questions
Finally, Clinical Sciences – Chapters 25 – 34 – You may expect 80 questions.
In addition, it has the list of normal laboratory values to common drug interactions. As you all know the total no of questions is 250.
2. It is compiled with lots of easy points to be memorized and remembered. Each and every chapter has some practice questions. Study at least one chapter a day and take a test with honesty. Don’t practice speed-read or just scan this book. It may not work. Each and every line is important. I would prefer to take notes while studying and certainly it will help you while you are revising this book.
3. Spend 3-5 hours a day for at least 3 - 4 months. Try to understand and revise several times before your exam.
4. Answering multiple choice questions: While taking the exam don’t see the answer first. Read the question two times and recall the answer then search for the suitable answer from the choices. Eliminate the wrong answers and find the right choice. Furthermore, I have followed the elimination method also. In this review whatever I have followed I am sharing with everyone. Hope it helps you to study well and pass the exam.
5. Make a plan for your study – In your calendar write the things to be done from your syllabus (blue print) and stick on to the plan.
6. Don’t spend too much time in watching YouTube videos. Because by the end of the day you may not remember what chapter you have studied. The following website may be beneficial. (...)

I would strongly recommend this book as your primary study book. In addition, for Pharmacology part I have studied Lippincott Illustrated Reviews: Pharmacology and for the calculation part I have studied Pharmaceutical Calculations by Howard C. Ansel. Finally I have used quizlet also for revising biochemistry part.
Don't worry... You will score well.. Let us use the rest of our life to help others.

If you want to pass your FPGEE ..this is THE book

If you want to pass your FPGEE. this is the book !!
I passed my FPGEE reading this book. The chapters are concise and to the point. The exercise at the back of each chapter helps a lot. Additionally, the summary of the chapter helps.
The chapter on clinical science and management are what you need to know for passing the test.

However, this book is NOT enough for pharmacology/medchem, you have to supplement that from lippencott or katzung (that has good med chem)
Also, for calculations this book isn't enough, you should refer to naplax review, or mannan.

other than that I find that this book is essential for passing the FPGEE.

good luck for anyone taking the exam !!
