Fascinating!

Really clever and engaging way to familiarize yourself with the syllabic Japanese scripts. I highly recommend this book as one way to learn kana and as a great and most unusual conversation piece. Give a copy to a good friend too!

Another great book from the artist

I was so excited to learn Dan Reeder had written another book. I own all of Dan's books, and use them frequently for reference during my own creative process.

Have you ever purchased an art book that you hoped would give you instructions on how create the way the artist does, only to find the book is just ego-stroking for the artist and of very little use to you? Well, that won't happen with this book, or any of Dan Reeder's books, for that matter. Dan is a very generous artist. He has a strong online presence, and shares his techniques, tips, and clever sense of humor freely.

This book shows you step-by-step, from start to finish, how to create two magnificent dragon art pieces: the cover dragon and a dragon head trophy. Dan's instructions are clear and concise. He's elaborated on many points from the book's previous version. He encourages you along the way to create your own piece of art, and to not worry about it looking like his. He also keeps you entertained by tucking away little hidden gems of humor (how DID Riley get in the bathtub?). He tells you where you may become frustrated--such as with the application of a gazillion scales--but, encourages you to stick with it because the end result will be so worth it.

This book, like Dan's other books, is a gem. An indispensable addition to your artistic library. It is as visually appealing as it is informative. Buy the book, make a dragon, hang it in your house, impress yourself, your friends, and family with your talent. And, don't forget to tell them Dan showed you how.

This is the best paper mache book I have ever seen. The author is wonderful and truly talented. If you are into art projects, DIY costumes, masks or just paper mache in general, this book is a must have. Here is a photo of my first project that I made following the instructions in this book.

Good place to start

This short work is a good starting point in understanding what efforts and considerations go into developing a software patent application. As noted by other reviewers, it presents the process generally and from the point of view of an associate patent attorney. Though I am not and do not intend to become a patent attorney, this point of view, provided value in understanding the efforts required to create a viable application. More in-depth reading will be required, but good references to USPTO files were also helpful.

I loved the late Catherine Cookson

This is the kind of book that first got me into reading seriously many years ago. I can never veer away from this type of read. I loved the late Catherine Cookson, so Maggie Hope is as near to this for me as a few other well known authors that I steer towards now and again to.

Here we have the story of a little girl who is taken in by her aunt. Her aunt wasn't a lover of her sister so we can see the way she treats her little niece, added to this, the aunt is married to a lecher, someone who prays on little girls.

Here this little girl is one day being chastised by her aunt when a lad overhears, winks at her and there starts are bond of friendship.

Many things happen to her, and many things change for the lad. The lad only ever sees her as a little girl as he is quite older than her, but will that always be the way?

There are traumas and events, hardships and experiences of life along the route of this wonderful story. I had to read this in one sitting. Love the tale that was told and very well written by Maggie Hope. One of my fav authors of today.

Orphan Girl, Lorinda is the star in this book.

About the Author
Daron Acemoglu is Charles P. Kindleberger Professor of Applied Economics at The Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a member of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research's Program on Institutions, Organizations, and Growth. He received the 2005 John Bates Clark Medal awarded by the American Economic Association to the best economist working in the United States under age 40. So begins this fascinating sideways look at the history of relationships—and attitudes to relationships—in 20th-century Britain. From World War I soldiers hoping for lady friends to send them food packages, to lonely clerks and typists desperate for love in the cities of 1920s England, through to the 1960s and 1970s swingers and today's internet junkies, it shows how the personal ad has mirrored and encouraged seismic shifts in society and popular attitudes to relationships. At the same time, it also unearths the stories of the heroes and villains of the personal ad—the former deb Heather Jenner who in 1939 set up a marriage bureau for Tatler-reading aristocrats, the shadowy Cyril Benbow whose cryptic "Gentleman has books for sale" masked a burgeoning pornography empire, and the tragic figure of Irene Wilkins, brutally murdered in 1921 by a man who scoured the personal ads in his search for victims.

The 30-strong conference programme committee chaired by Mauro Dorato and Miklos R edei rst selected 160 papers forpresentationout of 410 abstracts submitted. After the conference the three of us went on to further select 60 papers among those - livered. The selection was made on the recommendation of the members of the programme committee and the chairs of the conference sessions, who were invited to nominate their favourite papers and provide reasons for their choices. Every - per included in these volumes has been independently nominated by at least two referees. There are thus good groundsto the claim that these essays constitute some of most signi cant and importantresearch presently carried out in the philosophyof science throughoutEurope. The two volumes also represent the rst tangible outcome of the newly born EPSA. Together with the conference they in effect constitute the launching of the Association."

I say "YES!" to this book! The themes are ideal for tweens and early teenage girls. The EAH series blows Monster High out of the water with characters who challenge stereotypes and work together to come into their own. I highly recommend this book.

A not so semi charming kind of life

Firstly,let me just say that I am the daughter of this person and this review might have spoilers . I really liked the character Darling Chrming and wanted to find out more about her ever since in the Spring Unsprung and Way to Wonderland that it is shown that she was the white knight. Now,Darling may seem like a perfect royal on the outside but she is acually rebel on the inside really,I think that it is mainly her parents' fault that she is hiding her true self.In this book I got to know her better like when she was contansly chased by fanboys and how she and her brother Dexter were so called best friends. Overall,I give it a 5 stars because it describes Darling's life really great.

Master Secrets Revealed

First off, I have a disclosure to make of a personal bias. I have to admit I am a big fan of Dr. Will Horton. He is a master of NLP, an expert on the mysteries of the human mind, a Kung Fu master, the list goes on and on. I have seen him walk into a room of 200 people to give a presentation and within minutes everyone is mesmerized, hanging on every word! When he paused during his talk, you could have heard a pin drop. The man is a genius. That being said, when I found out that he had written "NLP 4 $ales", I was all in. I learned more in this sales book than I have any other. Will connects the dots in a whole new way and brings up things that I never even thought about. Even if you aren't in "sales" per se, you still need this book. We all have to sell ourselves, or our viewpoints constantly, whether it be a job interview, or talking to your future father-in law. This book is incredibly informative and practical. By the way, I am writing this after making a big sale using Dr. Horton's techniques. Enjoy!

About the Author
Simon Robinson is a researcher in the Future Interaction Technology Lab at Swansea University. His work so far has focused on mobile technologies that allow people to immerse themselves in the places, people, and events around them, rather than just in their mobile devices. Simon is an avid rock climber, and loves the fact that climbing doesn't need a touch screen to make you feel full of life. More at simon.robinson.ac

Gary Marsden was a professor of computer science at the University of Cape Town, pioneer and passionate advocate of HCI for development, and community builder. He became internationally known for his work in mobile interface design and ICT for development (ICT4D) - for which he was a recipient of the ACM SIGCHI's Social Impact Award in 2007. Gary died suddenly of a heart attack on December 27, 2013, and is survived by his wife Gil and his two children, Holly and Jake. More at marsdenscholarship.naga.co.za

Matt Jones is a professor and Head of Department of Computer Science, Swansea University. His research work focuses on human-centered computing with particular emphasis on mobile and ubiquitous computing and resource-constrained communities in regions such as India and South Africa. In his spare time he tries to live life face on with his energetic family, and enjoys nothing more than an exhilarating early morning cycle ride to the glorious beaches of the Gower. Getting beyond the glass touchscreen

There's Not an App for That is a great book for thinking outside of the "glass brick" that we're used to interacting with. Unlike many other books on mobile UX, this book doesn't tell you how to write apps, do wireframing, or size buttons; it guides you toward thinking about what comes after the iPhone and its progeny.

The book is divided into sections, each with a theme: moving from simply touching a mobile device to more rich interaction; encouraging people to engage with the world around them rather than focusing on the device in their hands; thinking about alternatives to clean, streamlined design; looking at the dividing line between personal, private devices and public interaction; how to encourage more mindfulness in interaction and connection between people; and how to think more universally about design and UX, to include the developing world.

Each section has several short, easy-to-read chapters, making the book easily digestible in small chunks. There are plenty of pointers to other resources to expand on the themes in the book, from web pages and videos to research papers.

Although not structured enough for an undergraduate text, I'm using the book as a textbook for a graduate-level mobile human-computer interaction class and the students are enjoying it very much. It provides a lot of good fodder for discussion.

The book is a fun and interesting read

The book is a fun and interesting read. For that I give it 3 stars. There is a lot of theory in this book and although it does try to get the reader to think outside the box and what *could* be. We still have the reality of creating experiences on glass boxes. Great for "what if" conversations with friends, but I didn't find a lot of practical advice for improving my current apps. (Maybe that's just me).
